Alden Ehrenreich Cast as Young Han Solo

The speculation is over, young Han Solo has finally been cast.

According to reports, 26 year old actor Alden Ehrenreich has been cast to star as Han Solo in an upcoming Star Wars prequel, based around young Solo’s life.

Ehrenreich, who was last seen in the Coen Brother’s 2016 Hollywood farce Hail Caesar!, beat out the likes of Kingsman’s Taron Egerton, Transformers’ 4 Jack Reynor, as well as rumored potential Hans: Miles Teller (Whiplash), Dave Franco (21 Jump Street), Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars), Logan Lerman (Fury), and Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad).

The Han Solo/Star Wars prequel will begin production in January. It was written by famed Star Wars scribe Lawrence Kasden, and will be directed by the popular one-two punch of Phil Lord and Chris Miller — the men behind The LEGO Movie, FOX’s The Last Man on Earth, and 21 Jump Street.

Page Six has reported that Ehrenreich could have a cameo in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which opens this Christmas.

According to iMDB, Ehrenreich made his television debut in 2005 on an episode The CW’s paranormal series, Supernatural. He made his major film debut in 2009 in Francis Ford Coppola’s drama, Tetro, starring Vincent Gallo. He would go to play significant roles in the YA fantasy feature Beautiful Creatures, the odd Mia Wasikowska/Nicole Kidman thriller Stoker, and Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine.
